I've been through something similar to this, and I'm so very sorry for the loss of your friend. He sounds like he was a wonderful one, and you were very lucky to have had him.

You'll be ready to deal on your own time. It's good and right of you to be making this trip, but don't let anybody force you into things you're not ready for yet.
